Kozhikode:  The National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode is all set to host FOSSMeet, the annual event on Free and Open Source Software. The event to be held from February 5 - 7, 2010 would bring together FOSS enthusiasts from all over the country.

Several events like FOSS Huts, talks and workshops have been planned for the FOSSMeet, an attempt at popularising Free and Open Source Software in India. A FOSS Hut is an area dedicated to a specific focus area in Free and Open Source Software, be it a project like KDE, community like SMC (Swathanthra Malayalam Computing), user groups, special interest groups like mappers or start ups which depend on FOSS. Atul Chitnis, Chief Products Officer and Senior VP, Geodesic, one of India's best known technologists is a star attraction at the event.

This event started as FLOSS Meet at NIT Kozhikode in 2005 which was a single day event. It is being conducted at NIT Calicut annually since then and this is the 6th edition. During this period, it has evolved into one of the biggest Free Software conferences in India. FOSSMeet is jointly organized by NIT Calicut's Student Groups: FOSSCell NITC, Computer Society of India (CSI), Computer Science and Engineering Association (CSEA), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and Free Software Users' Group Calicut.
