Toonz Introduces More Children to the World of Animation

The Kids Fest 2014 organised by Toonz Animation in February has introduced around 100 students, all children of Technopark employees, to the world of animation.

The fest was organised in association with Natana, the arts club of Technopark, and was a part of the 15th anniversary celebrations of Toonz.

The workshop session on animation techniques was handled by Prosenjit Ganguly, an alumnus and former faculty member of National Institute of Design, Pune. A second session on illusion and magic was by Raja Moorthy, Director, Academy of Magical Science, Kerala.

Mobile App to Send Kisses, Hugs, and Bouquets on Valentine’s Day

Happy news just before Valentine’s Day!

Trivandrum Technopark-based Volmacht Business Solutions (VBS) has developed “KissMS,” a free mobile application that enables the users to send kisses, hugs, and even bouquets to their loved ones.

Badusha Gulam Khader, CEO, VBS, said that KissMS is “a messaging app that enables the user to place a ‘KISS’ at the centre of emotional messaging.”

A text message and/or a 10-second long voice message can also be attached along with the KissMS message. The voice message is limited to 10 seconds so that it gets carried across faster.

The registration for the app can be made using the e-mail id.

SmartCity Kochi Enters into Three New Partnerships

At its first road show held in Bangalore towards the end of January 2014, SmartCity Kochi entered into partnership with three companies for office spaces, residences, apartments, retail, and a centre for digital sciences.

Agreements were signed with Whitefield Estates, Bangalore-based Maratt Limited, and Kochi-based Elton Technologies.

Infopark to Set Up Technology Business Centre

Following its takeover of the ITES Habitat from the Kerala State IT Mission at Kaloor, Infopark Kochi is all set to start a new Technology Business Centre (TBC) in the facility.

Infopark has created a plan to upgrade the existing facility, which hosts more than 50 small and medium IT enterprises currently. It is located inside the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kaloor and is on a lease from GCDA.

Infopark CEO Hrishikesh Nair said that they were “working towards setting up a full-fledged Technology Business Incubation Centre” in the second phase of the park’s expansion.  At least 10,000 sq ft of IT space will be allocated to the centre.

Incubation facilities at the centre will be set up in association with the NRI-TBI. The centre will provide necessary infrastructure support, technology or prototype development support, research assistance, help in sourcing funding, business consulting assistance, and all necessary support to incubate and accelerate the business.

State Government Sanction to Boost Industrial Zone at Kakkanad

The industrial zone at Kakkanad, includes the upcoming Smart City, the IT hub Infopark Kochi, and the promising KINFRA Export Promotion Industrial Park, will have improved connectivity and water supply by mid-2015, thanks to an administrative sanction for projects worth Rs. 40 crore accorded by the Government of Kerala.

The projects are expected to be in motion by March 2014 and completed within 15 months. The funds earmarked for these projects will be based on actual requirement and tender or e-tender. The project proposes a 30-million-litre-per-day water-supply system for Smart city, Infopark Kochi, and Kinfra Industrial Park and construction of a four-lane (1.5 Km) approach road.
